From 1903, a now somewhat uncommon form of entertainment – the whistling specialty: The Bobolink performed by Joe Belmont.

Once quite popular on the turn-of-the-previous-century stage, whistling solos also recorded very well on wax cylinders – and therefore were regular features in early record company catalogs.
Joe Belmont, whose real name was Joseph Walter Fulton, was one of just a handful of whistling artists (along with John York Atlee, Billy Golden, and Nina Angela) who recorded the bulk of whistling selections on two-minute wax cylinders.
