If a waltz could be termed "snappy", Phroso Waltz from 1899 played by the Peerless Orchestra certainly qualifies!

Phroso Waltz

Company Edison's National Phonograph Company
Cylinder # 701
Category Orchestra
Title Phroso Waltz
Performed by Peerless Orchestra
Circa 1898-1899
Announcement "Phroso Waltz, played by the Peerless Orchestra."

Although probably recorded in 1899, without its original record slip or other documentation, the lack of an "Edison" announcement could mean it was made somewhat earlier, perhaps late 1897 or 1898.   In any case, the tuba gets a prominent role in this record: one of my personal favorite waltz and Peerless Orchestra brown wax recordings.
